NOTE:
The antioxidant mineral Selenium is a popular topic in equine nutrition today. We are commonly asked why our product does not contain Selenium. The simple answer is that too much can be very dangerous, even deadly. Above all, we wanted our product to be safe.
As this article explains (Click HERE for Link), much of the Midwest has soils containing adequate Selenium. Adding more of this nutrient to a diet with already moderate to high levels can pose serious health risks. If you are concerned about your horse's Selenium status, we recommend consulting your veterinarian and sending a blood test for analysis. We also advise caution when feeding multiple supplements or concentrates with added Selenium as this could pose a toxicity risk.
